Information About Radon

Per E.P.A. Buyers and Sellers Guide "Any home can have a radon problem: New homes, old homes, well-sealed or drafty homes, and homes with or without basements."

Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes all over the United States. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in the ground and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Your home can trap radon inside. Sometimes radon enters the home through well water.

The E.P.A. and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor. Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon. E.P.A. recommends that you take action to reduce your home's indoor radon levels if your radon test result is 4.0pCi/L or higher. Ther are a number of E.P.A. listed radon reduction contractors in Metro Denver. You should also test your home again after it is fixed to be sure that radon levels have been reduced.
